Turning off keyboard buttons

Zboing Mouflon

I have a Compaq laptop that has a couple of irritating keys next to the
space bar.

One (actually two, one on either side of the space bar) opens the Windows
Start Menu, the other opens other menus, seemingly at random.

I keep hitting these by accident when typing. It's really annoying.

How do I turn them off!

Seeing as how I have seen secretaries type 60-70 words per minute, and NOT
hit those keys (as you and I do), I would guess it's all in the training and
practice. (-:
