Hello,

I tried to google, but was unable to find any instructions that tell
someone how to disable the MS-Vista internet connection. I would like my
Vista machine to be able to access the other computers in the LAN only.
How can one do this? I am about to spend some quality time with my
router, to see if I can accomplish this via router settings. If anyone
has any suggestions on this, I would greatly appreciate them.

Perplexed,

John

This is something of a general problem, not confined to this lousy OS.

If ever your internet connection is broken you can't work because of
constant pestering by practically every application you have installed.

A user-friendly OS would detect the situation, and intercept attempted
updates, etc.

Regards

You could just change the default gateway to something other then your
router.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try this, and then see if Vista can
still connect to the local area network. Thanks.

Cheers,

John

Depends on your router... I've got a Linksys WRT54G and it has an Access
Restrictions | Internet Access facility that sounds exactly like what you're
looking for.
