turning off automatic sequential numbering in numeric fields

This is not an AutoNumber field. It's just a numeric field. When I'm in
datasheet view and type 1 in the first row, then 2 in the next row, Access
assumes I want to then sequentially fill in the next row with 3 and the next
row with 4, etc. How do I turn this "feature" (pronounced "annoyance") off??

Keith,

This is one of many reasons for not using datasheets for data entry.
This is what forms are for. I agree that this is a "mis-feature" in
Access, but as far as I know the only way to turn it off is to use a form.
