Turned Off Overnight = SLOW Boot Time?

I have had a new laptop for about a month now and can't seem to shake
the problem. It's an Inspiron 6400, I took off the Dell install and
put a fresh XP Pro install on.

When I am using the computer, it's all fine, fast, etc. However, if I
shut it down OR close the screen (sleep) overnight, it takes forever
to boot (4-5 min.) and also won't run programs with any speed @ all.
CPU usage bounces off 100%. My solution so far has been to shut down
completely and restart, and then everything works fine. I have used
AVG to virus check, and four different programs to check for malware,
nothing has showed up.

Anyone heard of this? Any ideas? I am struggling, and I worry it's
hardware (which means I need to deal with Dell support) but I wanted
to see if anyone had seen/heard of this happening before. Thanks!

When you removed the Dell XP installation did you first make a note of
the Dell drivers that were installed on the laptop - such as video,
sound, modem, network card, wireless, and so forth? Normally when
exiting hibernation or standby (sleep) the system should respond very
quickly. However, Dell does use some proprietary system drivers.
Installing a new copy of XP Pro is fine, but you may have not
installed all the correct drivers needed for the machine to function
properly.

Also if it does turn out to be a hardware problem, you better be
prepared to re-install the original Dell copy of XP when contacting
their support.
