I have a Toshiba Satelite laptop, and the fan's been driving me crazy
the past few days! It used to be really quite, but the fan's really
been working, making a lot of wrr-ing noises with it. I've scanned for
viruses and spyware, and I've reformatted my hard drive, but nothing
seems to be working! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I
can do? The fan is driving me crazy!!

I forgot to mention that everything slows down big time when the fan
gets going too... Someone help! >.<

The fan is almost certainly faulty and not providing the correct
cooling to the CPU (hence the system slowdown due to overheating).
You will need to get your fan replaced by a professional or Toshiba if
still under warranty. Good luck.

I believe that you have a heat problem but it may not be a bad fan.
I recently worked on a laptop that had the cpu heat sink partially blocked
by dust. One could look into the air exhaust opening in the case and see
the blocked heat sink. Perhaps you can check this out and use a can of
compressed air or 'dust off' to blow any dust blocking your heat sink out
of the laptop. Hewlett-Packard actually provides instructions on how to
partially disassemble their laptops for maintenance and component
replacement. Perhaps Toshiba does as well.

Good Luck
