Turn Off

Somehow my "turn off computer" option on the logon screen has vanished. Now
users must log on to turn off the computer. How can I restore the "turn
off" button option on the logon screen?

nope, Home Edition

If you have XP Pro

start>run

secpol.msc

In the left hand pane select Security Options

Find and double-click "Shutdown: Alow system to be shut down without
having to logon" then select enable.

I use XP home as well and have had a problem with turn off from day one and
my button for turn off - shutdown, always restarts. Can anyone tell me why?

find HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

in the right pane find ShutdownWithoutLogon

change the value to 1
