turn off smartgart?

I have an ABIT X700 PCIE card with problems. I was advised to
turn off smartgart but I can't find it. Where is it? In
Catalyst AI? Any help will be appreciated as this card
frequently stops communicating with the system.

SmartGART was initially written for enhanced compatibility with the variety
of AGP motherboards out there. The tab doesn't show up in Control Panel if
you have a PCIe card.

You can try disabling the "ATiSmart" service in Windows XP. However, on my
system doing this also disabled basic 2D graphics acceleration, and made
Windows very sluggish.
