Turn off preview when opening attachment

When i open an attachment in word it seems to open in a 2 page preview format as opposed to an edit ready format. How can i turn this off

Open the document, set the view that you want, make a simple edit change
like adding and deleting a space, resave your document, close it out. When
you open back up it should come up in the view you saved it in. If it
doesn't, it might have a macro assigned to it (AutoOpen) that sets the view
parameters. If the problem persists after the above steps, holler back for
a way to fix the macro setting.

On the General tab of Tools | Options, clear the check box for "Allow
starting in Reading Layout."
