turn off new mail notifcation

I once created a rule to get a pop up notification every time a mail arrives.
(When new mail arrives, notify me with a specific message). I am now getting
annoyed with this message, and would like to turn it off, but for some
reason, the rule does not appear in the rules box. Is it possible it is
"migrated to the exchange server"? If so, how do I update the server to
remove it there as well?

If it's running, and it's a rule, it should be showing up in your rules
settings - are you absolutely sure you don't see it there? Disable all the
rules, then enable them one at a time til you find the culprit.
