Turn off fan in stand by mode

I would like to turn off my fan(the noisy one) in stand by mode. Other
computers seem to do this mine doesn't. Athalon xp 2600+. Tagar Computer.

Do you mean the noisy one at the back or the quite noisy
one at the front, which may seem louder as it's nearer to
you?

Have a look in the BIOS under Power Management for a
setting that turns off fans in standby mode.

Also look in the Control Panel - Power Management and see
if the setting is reflected there.

You can not expect the power supply fan to turn off in standby
mode.... Case fan and CPU fan if properly controlled by thermal
sensors, should turn off when the machine enters standby. Check your
motherboard BIOS settings in CMOS setup under "Power Options".

Mine Does.
If I using xp standby-All fans turn off. No bios setting.

OK, I'll bite.

Which fan is the "noisy one?" It's not like we are there with you so
we hear it!

Mine Does.
If I using xp standby-All fans turn off. No bios setting.

It does likewise on my notebook computer, however, most desktops keep
the power supply fan on even when in standby. Even an idling power
supply (during standby) will get fairly warm.
