"Turn Off Computer" fails to turn off power

I've had this (Asus) system running with XP SP1 for quite a while. A
fresh install of SP2 fails to turn off power when Start->Turn off
Computer is selected.

No flags under Dev Mgr->View->Show Hidden. I don't have any obvious
options under Power Management.

Another SP2 problem. Any way to fix this?

I have noticed this issue with none XP compliant motherboards, is
yours on the HCL ?

Tough to say. They have variants of the motherboard listed, so I'd
think it's OK.

Thing is, it worked fine with XP SP1 for years. Then upgraded that to
SP2...still OK. This started with a clean install of SP2. I've been
looking for something in power management, but haven't seen any red
(or yellow) flags.
