Turn of the date function

How can I turn off word automatically entering the date when I enter certain
characters, eg if I type 19/10 and then press return it will enter 19/10/05,
How can I turn off this really really annoying feature

You can choose not to accept the suggested AutoComplete tip. Just
press Esc when it displays.

To completely turn AutoComplete off, do the following: On the Tools
menu, click AutoCorrect. Click the AutoText tab. Clear the check mark
next to "Show AutoComplete tip for AutoText and dates" and click OK.

Thanks very much, escape works fine, unless you are at the end of a
paragraph. Is there any way just to turn the date bit off and still keep all
of the other autocorrect options

No. And ESC should work regardless of where you are. If it doesn't, type a
space before pressing Enter.
