TS redirection of USB printers

Steve C

Having a puzzling problem- Client has a central office w/
a TS box running 2000 SVR. 9 remote locations, all w/
192/192 or better DSL. TS printer redirection works as
advertised for all the LPT printers, including my own home
office one, but fails on all the newer USB printers. I
have seen references to a "known" USB issue-what is it?

Thanks,
SJC

Some USB printers create a locval port called DOT4. If that's the
case, you need to make a registry change on the clients to enable
redirection of these printers:

USB Are Not Redirected in a Remote Desktop or Terminal Services

Thanks- the article mentions multi-function units
specifically, of which I have none. I will give this a
whirl.

Steve,

Any events in the Event Logs, like Events 1111, 1105 and/or 1106? You may need to setup the printer driver for these
printers on the server or at least setup a redirect to a driver the server does have. See the following article to see if it helps.
