Hi:
My name is Ryan Norris. I am trying to help Community Action Services in
Provo, UT to come up with an easily updatable, and printable way to publish
their booklets or paphlets. I need PowerPoint to format slides so that I can
place the table of contents for the paphlet on the left side of the slide,
and the last page of the pamphlet on the right side of the slide. I then
print out all the pages (Two slides to each page, lanscape format), and fold
it in half to create the booklet or paphlet. Can you tell me how to do this?
Please e-mail me at (e-mail address removed). If further information or
clarification is needed, please e-mail me, or call me at 801-307-4363.
Thank you,
Ryan K Norris

While this can be done via PowerPoint, it would be far better to use an
application designed for paper printing. Look seriously into using Word or
Publisher before spending the time trying to use PowerPoint for this.

Considerations:

1) PowerPoint centers the slide image on the printable area of the paper,
which is usually not the center of the page. You will need to correct for
irregularly spaced white margins.

2) PowerPoint has difficulties with printing some transparencies. In a lot
of cases, it will simply print a solid object.

3) PowerPoint does not have any provision for two sided page printing, the
mark-up will all need to be done manually.

That being said, if you still want to proceed, here is what I would do.

On slide 1, make a grid that covers the entire slide area in 1" squares.
Print this to the printer you will be using for the Pamphlets. Use this
grid (pay attention to which side is up, left, etc) as an overlay while
designing the handouts. For example, the 3rd column might begin need the 8"
grid line (instead of the 2/3 slide area).

Hope this gets you started.
