Hi people

I am trying to install a network through a network cable (both computers
have network cards) however both computers come up with a message informing
me that the following hardware (network cards) are disconected (with a prompt
to ignore disconnected hardware) what am i doing wrong?? I have tried
reinstalling drivers and stuff like the help things tell me to.

Your help would be appreciated

Thanks

Matt,

If you're trying to connect two computers directly (without a hub, switch, or
router between them), you may need a crossover cable, not a patch cable.

would that be the reason why the wizards dont find the network cards??

Matt,

OK, that's a new one. I read that as "network cable disconnected", cause that's
the usual error. I've never heard of "network card disconnected".

Try the Device Manager equipment test on each computer. My Computer -
Properties - Hardware tab - Device Manager - (find the network adapter) -
Properties - What's the Device status?
