Trying to import Outlook 2003 pst file into Outlook 2002
but get an invalid file format. You would think that being
only one version apart that it would be no problem. Any
ideas?

TIA

Hi,

You are correct. OL 2003 uses an entirely different file format called as
the Unicode which the OL 2002 cannot recognize. But if u really need to get
the data in the OL 2003 pst into OL 2002, you can do this.

File --> New --> Outlook Data File -->

Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst )

Then, export the data from the OL 2003 pst into this new pst and then you
can get the data from thisnew pst into your OL 2002.

Hope this Helps !!!

The internal format of the PST changed from OL2002 to OL2003 and it is not
backward compatible. OL2002 can't read a native OL2003 PST. If you want to
move a PST from 2003 to 2002, create a 97-2002-format PST (File>New>Outlook
Data File>Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders file (.PST)) then drag items from
the 2003-format PST to the one you just created. When done, close it and
exit Outlook. In OL 2002, use File>Open>Outlook Data File (DON'T import!)
and you'll see the items.

Hmmm!!!
I had a major problem with my computer and reformatted my hard driv
AFTER backing up all my data. Includiung exporting my pst file fro
Outlook 2003. I own Office XP Proffessional. But had since become
disabled pensioner. I saved up for outlook 2003 update and wa
astounded at the quality and simplicity to my life. HOWEVER, my 200
disk has gone to the "Gods" ( either I have picked the disc up an
thrown it out accidently or my puppy , Lexx, has made off with i
forever. Anyway after unsucessfully searching the house , I am unabl
to find the 2003 update disc, THUS i cannot re-import ANY of th
numerous serial numbers emails, data, journal etc etc of my life
Already missed two vital appointments. guess what i am saying is 1- m
regular "good boy" backup process was useless, 2- I cannot afford t
just go out and buy another disc and 3- how can i convert the .pst t
a.csv if i dont have the 2003 disc?
Thanks for being a loyal microsoft supporter and NOT copying discs.
