Trust Between 2003 forest and 2000 forest

I am trying to create a trust b/t 2 forests. Both forests
have there own dns and does not know information about
each other . You can ping from both th sides but when you
try to do a trust, it gives u error msg about dns.
What we are doing is making zone informaion on both side
of forest as that may fix that issue.

Advise?

This cannot be done. Forest trusts are new in 2003. you'll need to setup
inter-domain trust relationships instead.

Yes you would need the domains records available with for each of
the other domain. You could probably get away by creating a
secondary zone.

But here what I do. I straightaway add the reqd entries in the
LMHOSTS file and that works very effectively.
Once you guys have connectivity (ie can go beyond a ping and
actually resolve the Domain name to a DC for the corresponding
domain) you can also create a Secondary Zone for each other
domain.

LMHOSTS works like a charm.
