Troubleshooting Vista Ultimate with PowerShell

Machine has an issue with the Security Center. Cannot launch most programs
but can navigate the internet. Permissions problems prevent me from starting
security center services. I know I can wipe the machine but there are some
things I would like to retrieve... one being the Office 2007 PID. I have
heard much about PowerShell and write to ask how it might help in this
instance. Guidance sought.

Why use PowerShell. It is a simple procedure to find the PID in Vista

1.. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
2.. In the Category View, click System and Maintenance, and then click System. In
the Classic View, double-click System.
3.. Under the Windows Activation section of the page, the Product ID (PID) is a 20
digit number next to Product ID.

He's not looking for the Vista PID, he wants
the Office 2007 PID.
