troubles with xp patches/ pack downloads

I have been having problems with coolsearch, i remove it
with cwshredder but it comes back. I have disabled java
settings that has not stopped it. MS will not let me
download any patches or packs, i get an activex control
message first, if i plough ahead and try it I get the
trust provider is unknown. When i try to uninstall JVM by
typing Rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
java.inf,uninstall i get a cannot find message. nothing
I try seems to work, hows about one of you folks helping
an old man out. thank you.

Java has nothing to do with your problems. You should leave Java alone.
If you are still getting browser hijackers, etc., then you haven't
completely cleaned up your computer. Although CWShredder is good, a)
you must have the most recent version; and b) you should use other
spyware removal utilities also. Download and install Spybot Search &
Destroy from www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure to update these programs before running
them. These programs are free, so run them both since they complement
each other. It is best to run antivirus and spyware removal tools in
Safe Mode.

Also, make sure your antivirus is a current version (post-2002) and you
are using updated definitions.

Cool web search can be a nasty hijacker to remove,there
are new variants coming out all the time which is why CWS
is updated almost every other day.If after following
Malke's advice you still have it, download "hijackthis"
and post the results in spywareinfo's forum's.
Note:Spywareblaster will prevent many types of CWS from
even installing.

Also, make sure you run cwshredder from Windows Safe Mode. There are a
couple of new variants that need to be removed while in Safe Mode.
