trouble

hi all,

since yesterday, i have a big problem. my pc wont start. i got a blue
screen with technical info : STOP: 0*00000050(0*FAB31700, 0*0000000,
0*FAB31700, 0*0000000 ), what means FAB31700?
my harddrive seems to be vanished, only diskettestation is working in DOS
when i try to change to c:\ or d:\ or e:\ ; comment: drive not excisting.
i m not a technical wonder, so my question : can i do something about it?
What is the most simple solution?

Presumably have you tried Safe Mode to possibly leave out any drivers or
hardware installed upfront of the failure.
