Each time I open a session under windows XP (without SP1), I get the
following message twice :
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE
The NTVDM CPU has encountered and illegal instruction.
CS:0000...

I have no spyware or virus.

This trouble seems to have no effect after I close the dialog box
(click either Ok or cancel) but I would like to solve it.

Have any idea ?

Hi Stephane,

Close all running programs. Locate ntvdm.exe in the \Windows\System32 folder
and delete it (it's probably corrupt). Reboot the system. See if the problem
goes away, as the file will be replaced by one from the system cache (System
File Protection at work).

Thanks for your answer,

I closed all running programms (except zone alarm and norton), delete
nvdm.exe and then reboot the pc.
It does nothing (the system rebuild the file ntvdm.exe but the dialog box
appears again).

Do you think that upgrading to SP1 may solve this problem ?

Hi,

Can't hurt certainly, and to properly protect the system you really should
be on SP2 unless there is soemthing on your system that is incompatible with
it.
