Trouble with IE

Whenever I open a web page, another page is trying to open as well. All I
see in the address bar is connecting,connecting and on and on. I just click
out of it. Sometimes it's a blank page, which turns the whole screen white.
When that happens I have to use the windows key to bring up the taskbar to
close it. It's very annoying. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to
stop these things happening?

Don't use IE. Get an IE based browser like avant browser if you want a
similar feel or firefox if you don't.

Install a better pop-up blocker. And quit visiting sites that offer "free
24-hour trials" (you know what kind of sites I mean).
