When I go into control panel and try to remove a program
is won't allow me. I get a message that there's no
windows/install.log or no unins000.dat. How do I fix this
problem and keep it from happening again.

it looks like you have deleted the uninstall files or that there was a
failed uninstallation of the software.

Best suggestion would be to delete the program folder from c:\program files
and remove the startup entries [if any] delete the software folder from
registry:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\
HKCU\SOFTWARE\ [if found]
Also, delete the uninstall key from

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall

to remove the software entry from add/remove programs.

Or reinstall the software using its setup and then uninstall the software
from the control panel.

.
The program you are trying to remove has it got its own
uninstall program if it does try it.
