I am trying to establish a small home network between my
desktop and laptop, both running XP-Pro.

I have DSL with a Linksys router.

I am having no problems using the internet but I can't
share files and/or printer. When I click on my network,
I can see all drives on both computers but I can't access
files.

On my Desktop, I can click on my "laptop c drive" and I
get only a Desktop.ini configuration settings file. But,
on my Laptop, I can click on my "desktop c drive" and I
get an error telling me the Network path was not found.

Please help with this problem! Thanks!

it could be a couple of problems. First, turn
off/uninstall any firewalls whils troubleshooting. Then
make sure that all the folders you want to be able to see
are shared with the appropriate permissions. (right click
the folder and choose "sharing")If this in itself doesn't
work, try creating identical user accounts on both
machines and log on with that account
