Trouble removing language settings - Arabic to English

I am trying to reformat a document that was originally created in Arabic. I
need to add line numbers and a footer with page numbers (Page X of X). The
line numbers are appearing in the right margin rather than the left, and the
page numbers are typing right to left. I've already changed the settings in
Tools - Language - Set Language. The bottom bar says the language is set to
English. But I still can't shake this right to left formatting.

There should be buttons in a toolbar (or on the Ribbon) for R-to-L vs.
L-to-R, if Word thinks there's Arabic in the document.

Can't provide any more detail without your versions of Word and
Windows.
