Trouble including PowerPoint Viewer in presentation

P

Paul

I'm using the Powerpoint Pack and Go Wizard to prepare a presentation to run
on another computer. I would like to include the PowerPoint viewer in the
package. I've downloaded Powerpoint viewer but when the wizard gets to the
panel to include the viewer, the "Viewer for Microsoft Windows" is grey'ed
out.

Help.

Which version of PPT, and which version of the PPT Viewer did you
download?

What version of PPT are you using?

PPT 2002's Pack and Go doesn't have the capability to select the newest
PPT Viewer to use, so it uses the old Viewer -- if you have it
installed. that's because the new Viewer didn't even exist when PPT 2002
was released.

You will be better off, though, simply electing *not* to include the
Viewer, because PPT 2002's Pack and Go would only be able to use the old
PPT Viewer, and it doesn't support animated gifs or other, newer
animations and transitions which are in PPT 2002.

So, when you Pack and Go to gather all your files together, select the
option to *not* include the Viewer. In other words, don't worry that
it's greyed out. Just do the Pack and Go as usual, then unpack to a
folder on your harddrive.

Then Copy the 7 files the new Viewer installs over to the same folder
where you unpacked
the Pack and Go. Then copy *all* the contents of the unpacked folder to
the CD or wherever you're moving the presentation to.

The 7 Viewer files are as follows:

gdiplus.dll
intldate.dll
pptview.exe
ppvwintl.dll
pvreadme.htm
saext.dll
unicows.dll

The reason it remains greyed out is because you downloaded the viewer but didn't install it.

(At least, this is exactly what happened to me!)

Well, that depends on the version of PPT and which Viewer you
downloaded, Gerry. :)
