Trouble in accessing files

hi. hope someone can help with my problem. i just reinstalled windows xp
today. the problem is i can longer access files in the documents and settings
directory even if the user im using has administrator capabilities. I guess i
made something new during the reinstallation since a new subdirectory was
created in the documents and settings folder.the folder i am trying to access
also was created with administrator privileges. there are some files that i
need to get from that directory..can someone give me a few tips? thanks
