Trouble importing spreadsheet

I'm trying to import a spreadsheet into an Access table. I used the wizard
and got an error which said 'an error occured - the file was not imported',
no other helpful information.

I coded a procedure to run the transferspreadsheet command and when I ran it
got an error (3011) saying 'could not find object '''. Also not very helpful.
Anyone got any ideas? It's a fairly small inocuous spreadsheet with no
unusual data, just some names, numbers and dates. The user has been importing
spreadsheets for years and has had no problems before. I'm totally out of
ideas.

Are you trying to import into a specific Access table, or just importing and
letting Access create a new table?

I'm creating a new table

ps. I tried exporting to a .csv file then importing to Access and that
worked ok worked

Hmmm? I can guess that the underlying Excel file had a chicken bone stuck
somewhere, and that exporting to .csv format cleared the underlying subtle
corruption (since you could import the .csv file without issue).

Upon further research, the 'chicken bone' turned out to be a heading with a
leading space. Access choked when it tried to create a column name with the
leading space.
