trouble closing word

I recently downloaded an Avery template, and ever since whenever I go to
close any WORD document it says" the document is in use by another
application or user", and lists C:\Windows\...\Templates\normal.doc. It then
opens the window to the save a document area. There is only one user on this
computer, and as far as I can tell, nothing else uses that particular
template. It is just a nusance thing, but annoying. Any suggestions?

Remove the template. It doesn't do anything that you cannot do with Word
alone.
