trouble changing resolution of monitor

J

Jim

I recently "cleaned" my computer and downloaded my Windows XP disc back onto
my Dell desktop computer. Everything is working well again except I cannot
change the screen resolution. I go to Display--Settings, but I cannot move
the resolution button. When I go to Advanced and look for my monitor, the
only thing listed is "Default Monitor" and I cannot open Properties to look
for another monitor. I suspect that I have failed to download a particular
driver to correct this problem. Any suggestions???

You "download" when you go to a website and bring a file to your hard
drive. You "installed" Windows XP.

Now you need to go to either your computer manufacturer's website or
the website of your graphics (video) card manufacturer and download
the proper driver.

After you download it, you must install it.
