Maybe I'm wrong about this, but wasn't (isin't) the JRE being
maintained in two separate lines, the 1.5.x and 1.6.x, the difference
being that 1.6.x is open-source?

(thereby making it very difficult for an end user to know which one is
more "current" - or secure?)

iirc 1.5.0_11 came out after 1.6.0_1 thus making it more up to date
and if you manually ran the update facility on 1.5.0_10 prior to
1.5.0_11 being released but after 1.6.0_1 was released you were told
you were already running the latest version.

It came as something of a surprise to me when 1.5.0_11 auto updated to
1.6.0_1 a few weeks ago since 1.6.0_1 has been available for download
a lot longer than that.
