What is the name of the tray on the bottom right side
next to the clock and why is there not an icon for
Windows Firewall?

Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Firewall -> ON
is checked.

Start -> Run -> services.msc says that
"Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Services"
is "started" and "automatic"

Now that I think about it, there are many services.
Perhaps services do not get icons?

But I still want to call the tray by the correct
name.

Tnx,
Charles

The formal name is the "system notification area" and the colloquial name is
the "system tray" or simply the "tray".

You are correct that operating system components do not get icons in the
tray. Of course there are exceptions. For example, you can choose to display
an icon for volume control and for network connections.
