Tray icons have vanished.

Hello.

I have a computer running windows XP home. The systemtray
icons have vanished. I have attempted to use the taskbar -

properties -> notification section, but it has had no

effect. The arrows that expand to show the infrequently
used icons are not there.

When I turn on the display network connection in the
taskbar it shows up. The clock is also present, but
Windows messenger, mcafee and others are not there upon
boot up and they should be.

If anyone has any insight that would be great. I look
forward to your responses.

Also I have noticed that in msconfig, the only thing in
startup is Office, I assume there was more than this here
to begin with.
