transmission garbled from 2003 to word

when i scan to office 2003 it comes out good but when i transfer to word the
fortmat is not the same ie, no color, garbled letters distorted

If you are using the Office Document imaging software then that's probably
as good as it gets. The OCR capabilities are at best rudimentary. It works
well for simply typed documents, but for more complex stuff you need a third
party application. I personally like Finereader best.
