Transition Duration Won't Stick

I can't get my transition duration to change.
Tools/Options/Advanced is where I'm trying to make the change but when I
'ok'
out of that box, the transitions in the current movie remain the same. How
can I change them?

The setting only applies to the next clips you drag from the collections to
the project... it doesn't effect any clips already in the project. For
those, you need to adjust them manually one at a time.

added *after* you make the change.
