Anyone, correct me if I am wrong, but you cant convert a SINGLE 2d pic into a
3d obj unless you have references in the picture that realy help define what
you are looking at.
That said, you could, however, do some triangulation using multiple pictures
of the *cough* simple object. (Or perhaps you are the king of software making
it a breeze, right?)
Another idea....
One of the quiet facinating school projects I saw last year used a
horizontal rotating platform to rotate an object. Using a digital video
camera and a verticaly spread laser beam at ~45 degrees apart they could map
the entire object. The principle was on based on triangulation of the object.
(this would probably be my prefered way of getting 3d objs.)
