I have a Dell Dimension 8300, 120G RAID system that I want to transfer 100%
of its data (not OS) to a Dell 8400 Dimension 160G RAID system. Both PCs are
on the same LAN.

What is the best method to transfer with?

Thanks for the links.

Any idea how Windows Transfer Wizard compares to PC Relocator?

When I follow the directions for using the Windows XP Transfer Wizard and
insert the Windows XP CD (from the new PC) into the older PC, I get the
following message:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click on OK to
terminate the application."

Both PCs have Windows XP Pro.

What could be the problem? How to fix?

Possible solution:

Go to Start > Run and type in: devmgmt.msc
and press the Enter key. After the Device Manager
window opens, scroll down to your CD-ROM
drive, click the "+" to expand, then right-click on
your CD Drive and select Uninstall. You will
be prompted to reboot your computer, so reboot
and Windows XP will reinstall the CD Drive.

I did the device manager routine, re-booted and had the same issue. I was
using the Reinstallation CD for Windows XP Pro with SP2 (that came with my
Dell 8400 Dimension) so I tried the Reinstallation CD (that came with my
older PC, a Dell 8300 Dimension). I did not have the same initialization
issue with the Dell 8300 Reinstallation CD, but when it to choosing how I
wanted the transfer to take place, the "Home or Small Office Network" option
was grayed out. We do have a LAN and it is working.

Any ideas on what the problem is?
