transferring from hardrive

I would just like to double ckeck that this is ok to do.

I have 2 hardrives on PC E & F
If I transfer pictures and some programmes from E to F then wipe E reinstall
win xp I can then transfer back from F to E.
This would save me having to save onto Cds and then transferring back into E
from those CDs.

Yes this would work for pictures but may not for programs because some
programs install parts in to windows folder as well, so if you copy the
program folder and then re-install windows and copy the program folder back
the program may not work.

Its best to reinstall the programs once you have re-installed windows on the
e hard drive.
