transfering from vhsc camcorder to dvdby way of wmm2

windows is not even relizing that i am trying to get it's attention,[not
recognizing the old panasonic camcorder]oh im using win xp /w/sp2 on a sony
vaio pcv/v300g.
the last pc i bought was 7 yrs ago.i am SO LOST....ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER
WOULD BE

You would need some kind of analog capture device to get the video into
digital format.... what are you using?
