Transfer rates inquiry

Hi,

I'd like to know what real transfer rates I'd have using:

- an Asus P4C800 Deluxe + a HDD Seagate Cheetah 15K.3 - 18.4 GB 15,000 RPM Ultra320 SCSI
- an Asus P4C800 Deluxe + a HDD Western Digital Raptor 36.7 GB 10,000 RPM 8 Mo Serial ATA

It appears to me that speed of the SCSI HDD will be limited by the PCI bus, won't it?
More info on the Asus motherboard here:
http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=P4C800 Deluxe&langs=09
Thanks a lot,

Thanks a lot,

Neither is going to outrun the PCI buss at this point I don't believe.

SCSI controller would have to share the PCI bus with sound, network, TV and
other cards whereas SATA ports on Intel ICH5 southbridge sit on a high speed
internal system bus directly connected to the northbridge and thus the
memory. Moreover the 2 SATA channels are independent so don't have to share
the bandwidth unlike SCSI drives. So with 2 drives SATA should outperform
SCSI.
I'm about to prove that to myself, just waiting for the new Gigabyte
GA-8I875 board to become available.
