Transfer of images from memory card to PC for editing and vice ver

Hi there,
Could anyone out there tell me whether it's possible or not to
transfer digital images from a memory card to a PC and then edit those
images, before transferring the edited images back on to the memory card so
that I could get them printed off. I've tried writing the images to a CD, but
when i took it in to try and get the photos printed off there was nothing on
the CD to actually print off. Can anybody help me?

Yes, you can copy the images back
to the memory card.

Are you using a USB card reader?

And...BTW, there are many online sites
where you can upload your images and
order prints.

Have a look at the following link:

Yes you can as John Inzer pointed out.
You just copy them to the memory card in your camera and take the card to
the store to print.
However, you need to settle the issue of copying these pictures to a CD or
an external drive so if something happens to your computer you will have
copies of your pictures.

What happened to your caveat about moving pictures to HDD then editing and not
being able to view them when copied back to the memory card?

Is that now a non-issue with all the newer cameras?

The camera doesn't need to read them--just the photo printing equipment
at the store.

Sorry for the delay, but your question was answered below by Michael Mahon.
Indeed, a camera may not be able to display the file but any computer will
read it properly and this is all you need to print.
In fact I was recently pleasantly surprised that I can copy edited (and with
new file names) photos to a CF card or a Microdrive and a Sony LCD HDTV
(Bravia XBR 40) will read the files and display them when I use my camera
(or a USB card reader) and connect it to the USB port of this LCD HDTV to
display such modified files . My camera (Minolta A1) cannot display these
edited etc files, but this TV can!
I normally do not use the camera to do this, I simply load the Microdrive in
a USB card reader and connect this card reader to the USB port of this TV.
But I just had to try with the camera for the fun of it.
What is interesting is the Sony manual for this TV states that this will
work if you connect a "current" Sony camera to the USB port of this Sony LCD
HDTV. So before purchasing it I took my Minolta camera to the store to try
it and it worked perfect. I also have an older Sony camera and it worked
perfect.

Hello John,

Thanks for your quick reply. I do use a USB Card Reader.
It's an Iomega FloppyPlus. Could you please explain how you go about copying
the edited images back to the memory card, or could you tell me if there's a
site that I can go to to get this particular information? Many thanks.

Thanks Yves

I misunderstood and thought OP would also be viewing on camera.

Little bit slow the past few days. Red cell count is too low. Need a boost.

You should see some of the looks I'm getting over in the Excel groups<g>

=======================
It's very simple...

Insert your memory card in the reader.

Go to...My Computer...

Locate the icon that represents the reader...
it will say something like: Removable Disk (F:)
(if you have a multi-card reader you will see
several different Removable drives)

Now you can open the folder your images are
saved in and...Drag/Drop...or...right click/copy
right click/paste the files onto the memory card.

Also you can open the folder with the image files...
select the ones you wish to copy to the memory
card...right click the selected group and from the
menu...choose...Send To / Removable Disk (F:)
(assuming F is the correct letter for the memory
card)
