You can copy the data files but you'll need to re-install the applications.

2 OS were on my pc, both W2K PRO SP3. The working OS (WINNT) is newly
created. Original OS (WINDOWS) fails to start, even after applying the
Recovery Console, but can be accessed by C Drive by starting WINNT. I
intend to COPY all the folders, programs(incl MS2000 OFFICE]. document
settings, desktop & antivirus program from WINDOWS TO WINNT, THEN TO ERASE
WINDOWS completely. Will highly appreciate of any help.

Isn't it the best way is by highliting/ blocking the files & folders & copy/
paste to the functional OS , follow by deleting from the ill-functional
OS??? Where can I find what application programs were installed originally
& what were on the DESKTOP previously? If all work well, how to remove the
non-functioning OS completely? Thanks!

* Yes, that will work.

(Q) Copy from C Drive to where? " My Documents" of live install?

Where can I find what application programs were installed originally
* Have a look in the \Program Files directory on the dead install.

| & what were on the DESKTOP previously?
* Have a look in
%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Desktop
on the dead install.

* Delete the non-functioning \windows directory, then delete the option from
boot.ini located in the root of the system partition.

Explorer|Tools|Folder Options|View, then radio button for "Show hidden files
and folders", then uncheck the box for "Hide protected operating system
files" to locate the files in the system partition.

Thanks!

On Local Disk (C), I could see Capacity, Used & Free space (MB) on the LHS
of the screen, but not on "MY DOCUMENTS" of the functional OS, as I'm
trying to SEND all the files from the dead OS to the live OS.
(cross-referencing purposes) . TIA. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
