Transfer 'My documents' folders to non-system drive

Could someone please explain how to transfer all 'Documents & Settings'
folders from the System ("C") drive, to a separate drive. I read in an old
post (about August last year) that it can be done; and that it involves
modifying the ProfileList Directory value in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList.,
but there was no explanation of what modification. I would like all those
folders in my "D" drive.

TIA

In a supported fashion, it can only be done *during the setup of Windows
XP*.

Other movement - well - you are likely going to cause more problems that
whatever you are looking to get out of it is worth. After all - if you are
running out of space - buy a bigger hard disk drive and image the old to the
new... Or simply move your "My Documents" folder elsewhere (for many users -
that is where everything ends up) or use some other special folder
redirection if you feel the need.

You don't want to transfer the entire D and S folder off the system
drive because it contains system and user files that properly belong on
the system drive. However, there are many shell folders that can be
transferred to another drive. Most people who contemplate such an action
are interested in storing My Documents on a different drive. You can
find instructions for that and much more here:

Is that really what you want, or do you just want to move My Documents? For
that, just right click, select Properties and Move, tell it where to put it.
It'll even move all the files over for you too.
