Transfer menu bars into reinstalled Excel 2002

Hi,

I have a problem with the menu bars in Excel: I replaced an old hdd in my
PC by a new, larger one. Therefore I had to reinstall Win and all the
applications there, also Excel. Unfortunately I have problems to transfer my
old menu bars. I already tried the trick with opening several
Excel10.XLB-files and then manually changing the menu bars, so that the
changes could be saved in the new XLB file, but it didn't work. Are there any
tools to fix this problem?

On the other hand some of my buttons have age-old paths saved in the config
files still from my last system (Excel 5), so I have to change the paths of
my current Excel with each restart by a VBA program started by
"Workbook_Open". I can't get rid of these old traces!

I assume that my Excel config-files are corrupted and that I will have to
build up new ones. Which files will I have to rebuild? Are there any
possibilities to transfer the buttons? Because I don't want to design them
all again.

Or are there any tools to modify these files?

First, I'd rebuild the toolbar modifications that are just additions from
excel's built in options manually (the stuff you get to via tools|Customize).

But for the toolbars that have icons that run your own macros, I'd fix those
workbooks/addins so that they create the toolbar on the fly. This will make
your life much simpler--you'll never have to worry about where the file is
located no matter how many new pc's you get or who you share the utilities with.

For additions to the worksheet menu bar, I really like the way John Walkenbach
does it in his menumaker workbook:

Here's how I do it when I want a toolbar:

Hi Dave,

if I understand you correctly you suggest to transfer the menu bars (of
course the relevant menu bars are selfmade - I'd never worry about built-in
menus) to a workbook and open the workbook including the menu bars with the
new excel? That is a new and very interesting viewpoint! May be that's the
answer to my question.

It isn't a problem for me to create any menu bars in a new workbook, the
problem is to transfer the Excel menu bars into workbook menu bars.

I'll have to think about it.

Thanks for the moment! But may be I have further questions!
