transfer files

I have an xp laptop and a vista laptop...Could somebody give me a step by
step guide using a crossover cable to transfer files from one computer to
the other. (the crossover cable fits into the ethernet ports)

1.. Install the small software application that was included with your
cable (or get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...31-973A-45C7-A4EC-4928FA173266&displaylang=en)
on your current PC.

2.. Plug the cable into both computers.

3.. Windows Easy Transfer will launch and guide you through the transfer
process. Your information and files will transfer at approximately 20GB per
hour.
