Hi folks,
I have a 40g hardisk which is full, and I wish to transfer it
complete to a new larger disk. Is there any surefire way of doing this....I
would use Nortons Ghost, but the disks have to be the same size, which is no
good in this case.I need a similar image transfer but to sizwed disks. TIA
John.

I use Acronis True Image to make a clone of my main drive. Works great.
Main drive is a 60GB, clone drive is 80GB.

If your operating system is not NTFS, you can use the free XXCOPY
program with the /clone switch. It works perfectly and costs nothing.

Use Partition Magic (if you don't have it, borrow a copy or something).

Thanks Guys......plenty to try there.John

whatever manufacturer of the drive should have a tool to do this.
western digital I know for certain does. boots to a floppy, copies files
from your old drive to the new set as a slave, then you switch the
drives and you are done.

assuming of course you still have a floppy drive.

The disks do not have to be the same size on any semi-recent
version of Ghost.

Ghost will do what you need. The disks don't have to be the same size
