Transactions

I've read the descriptions of the types of transactions but for some reason
I am still confused... what locking mode do you use if you want dirty data
to be able to be read while a transaction is in place?

I want to be able to fill a table in a transaction but allow others to view
it as its filled into the SQL Server but if an error occurs during the
fill to roll it back...

What version of SQL Server are you using? If SQLS 2005 snapshot
isolation may work for you. This topic on row versioning should get
