tranfer files and setting from an old harddrive

is there a way to tranfer my files and setting from my old harddrive to my
new computer. I have the hard drive installed on the new computer as the old
one quit working all the file are in tack an the hard drive seem ok. The old
operating system was xp pro new is vista home premium I have try several
things the program sugest without any luck. I would sure like some help if
you have any . even manual transfer? Thanks for your time mike

Unless the old hard drive is in a computer that can start Windows, there is
no way to get files and settings from it. You can hook it up as a slave
drive, or put it in an external housing and copy some files, but no
settings.
