Tracks Eraser killed embedded wmv

Q

I have XP Home Edition SP2, Internet Explorer 6.0, and
AntiSpyware Beta1. Everything was going fine until I tried
running Tracks Eraser for the first time. I
checked "select all" and let it run. Afterwards I found it
hadn't cleaned my history cache (at least not the
autocomplete feature), nor had it removed the cookies.
What it did do was stop WMP 9 from playing embedded wmv
files in websites. It will still play the popup type, but
not embdedded files. All that happens is that there's a
second or two of movie, then it locks up. I tried using
System Restore to go back a week, that didn't correct the
problem. I've been using WMP 9 with no problems, but I
installed WMP 10, but that didn't help either. My guess is
that Tracks Eraser tweaked IE, but I don't what to
correct. An answer would be appreciated.

It's not advisable to use Tracks Eraser at this time, at
most of the functionality has been removed and doesn't
work properly.

Try Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove
Programs. Select Windows Media Player 10, and press
Remove. Reboot the system. Do the same above steps if
WMP 9 is listed.

Now try to install either 9 or 10 and see what happens.
Just remember to reboot the system after installing the
software.

Actually you're screwed totally. If we'd cared at all, we
would have warned you not to use this POS feature. We
don't care. Hope your computer is totally trashed!
