Tracking changes in Shared Workbooks

How do I prevent excel from tracking changes in a workbook withou
unsharing the workbook

It looks like you could:

Tools|Share workbook|advanced tab
and check "don't keep change history"

It seems to remember a bunch of stuff, anyway. I have two shared
workbooks, and the filesize grows at a remarkable rate. They start
off around 250KB, and two weeks later they hit 2MB.

Suggestions?

Maybe the lastcell in the worksheets is way past what you think it should be.
(although that's one big leap).

If you hit ctrl-end, you go to the bottom left corner of the used range.

If that's way past what you think it should be, you can visit Debra Dalgleish's
site to see some ways to try to reset that lastused cell.

TBH, I'm thinking of lobbing the lot into Access, but I just don't
have time to do it right now.
